Therapeutic Massage
Therapeutic Massage combines both Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) and Trigger Point Therapy. NMT is used for pain relief and specific problems. Structural and postural imbalances are identified through an initial postural assessment. These are then addressed through systematic and site specific massage. NMT reduces pain, tension, postural imbalance, and lengthens and strengthens tissues.
Trigger Point Therapy applies pressure to these points leading to immediate release of tension and improved muscular functioning. A trigger point is an area of a muscle that refers pain sensations to other part of the body. Some of my favorite reading is Dr Janet Travel’s research books on trigger point therapy.
Therapeutic Massage is very effective for everyone from athletes, musicians, office works that sit at their desks in static positions for hours or even new moms that carry their children on their hips.
This modality can work beautifully with The BodyTalk system to permanently address long term therapeutic problems. If you a sick and tired of visiting your orthopedic or physical therapist for the same problem this massage can shed light on what is missing in your treatment.
